IN THE NAME OF GOD, THE MOST GRACIOUS, THE DISPENSER OF GRACE
[33:10]
[Remember what you felt] when they came upon you from above you and from below you, and when [your] eyes became dim and [your] hearts came up to [your] throats, and [when] most conflicting thoughts about God passed through your minds:

* v.10 : The Ghatafān group tried to take the trench by assault from the upper, eastern part of the Medina plain, while the Quraysh and their allies launched an attack from its lower, i.e., western part (Zamakhsharī), and this obviously in consonance with their original lines of approach – the Ghatafān having come from the highlands (Najd), and the Quraysh from the coastal lowlands (the Tihāmah).
* Lit., “[when] you thought all [manner of] thoughts about God”: i.e., “whether He would save you or allow your enemies to triumph.”
